20060102 Jaipur

Wow! I found McDonald! Was so eager to eat something I'm familiar with, though it was never be my favourite at home. Anyway, the burgers taste "Indian". I didn’t see any building painted pink though Jaipur alias is "Pink City". I didn’t even sense any romantic ambience from this name. Instead there are some buildings painting in ochre-red. The City Palace, also the present residence of the Maharaja, is not magnificent, only a portion is open for public. Was disappointed with Jaipur until I came to Amber Fort, half an hour bus journey north from the city. It is like a maze, preservation and cleanliness are quite well done. Lots of tourists. I didn't explore Jaigarh due to time constraint, which needs an uphill 1km walk from Amber. The Nahargarh (Tiger Fort) at the brink of the city was erected on a hill, The compound is immense but the palace is small, much less charm compared to Amber.

A view of Jaipur old city City Palace Miniature painting of Maharaja. Good quality paintings have very fine details that need maginifer to read. Worth for collection but not cheap. Pigeons Street view in front of Hawa Mahal Hawa Mahal, empty inside. This colour named Jaipur as "pink city" Amber Fort, the highlight of Jaipur. It is huge and the maze like architecture would satisfy one’s adventurous urge A view of Amber Fort
