20060103 Pushkar
The main attraction is the beautiful small lake in the centre of the small town, surrounded by low buildings painted white and blue. Like Varanasi, it is a sacred lake for Hindu. On my first arrival at the ghats, 2 Brahmins handed some flowers and I should throw into the lake to show respect. I knew this scam, they would ask ridiculous amount after performing puja. I ignored them, immediately one told me to leave the place and no photographing was allowed. Meanwhile, there were a few ladies taking photos and walking around with shoes on. The Brahmins explained I would only be given a "passport" after performing puja. Totally absurd! We named it "Pushy Pushkar". The Savitri Temple which situated on the hill top has a good view over Pushkar. The village in the midway is a nice place to take a rest and for a "chay".
