20060105 Jaisalmer

One could really feel the distinct culture in this Islamic Rajasthani city. The Jaisalmer Fort is definitely the attention of the city, many families are still residing in the Fort. The Museum, havelis and Jain temples presented fine and beautiful unique architecture. Desert camel safari has become the standard program of most tourists. Duration and program of trip are flexible, subject to one’s interest in historical ruins, temples, sand dunes or village exploration. I had not seen any other tourist during my 5-days village exploration journey. We carried the lightest needs with 2 camels, slept under the starry sky but freezing cold, no shower for days and ate simplest food – chapatti, dhal, bread. It was fun to experience the desert life.
