Was religious center of Buddhism and Jains in the past. Lots ofreligious sculptures, carvings and wall & ceiling paintings preserved in a group of caves orientated along the horse-shoe-shape cliff. These are not natural caves but tremendous efforts of ancient folks, some caves are spacious. Many Tibetan pilgrims were seen here. Most of them would leave a small amount of money in front of “each” Buddha statue as offering and gesture of respect (seems to be their habit), quite a hefty sum in a day. Wonder where the money would go?

sDSC039531.jpg In order to protect the colour of the paintings, all the caves are dim. Cameras need long exposure to capture photos. sDSC039841.jpg Curators sDSC040031.jpg This is among the well preserved wall paintings sDSC040271.jpg sDSC040301.jpg sDSC040321.jpg Caves aligned along the horse shoe shaped cliff
