20060122 Ellora
Ellora was another religious center of Buddhism, Hinduism and Jains. Similar to Ajanta in a way that the caves house the religious sculptures, carvings and paintings. I didn’t feel over excited after visiting Ajanta yesterday. The highlight that draws the crowds to here is the marvelous huge rock-hewn Kailash Temple, it’s stunning! It is more beautiful and grander than the churches of Lalibela (Ethiopia). The exterior is magnificent but the interior is just the same as the rest. But Ellora draws less Buddhist crowds compared to Ajanta.
