20060204 Varkala
Varkala beach is not immense but the cliff has its characteristic. Wave are strong not a good place for swimming. There are several fishing villages around, an interesting scene to watch a group of 20 fishermen pulling the net ashore. They used to ask tourist to assist (to save their energy, I guessed). Some tourists enjoyed the fishing experiencing and had fun with it. The catch was miserably less and the fishes were small, probably less than 20kg after removing some rubbish and non consumable seafoods. They called for bidding and the highest bidder got it. It is a real tough life. The Kathakali performance is similar to opera, depicting mythological and religious stories. The musicians, singers and dancers need close coordination. Very impressive and interesting but getting bored soon because we couldn't understand the stories.
